Welcome to Edwards Air Force Base! The 412th Test Wing is the host wing for Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. -- the 2nd largest base in the Air Force. The wing oversees base day-to-day operations and provides support for over 10,000 military, federal civilian and contract personnel assigned to a 481 square mile installation. The 412th Test Wing plans, conducts, analyzes, and reports on all flight and ground testing of aircraft, weapons systems, software and components as well as modeling and simulation for the U.S. Air Force. There are three core components for this mission: flying operations, maintenance and engineering. We offer two types of tours -- General Public Tours and Large Group Tours. General Public Tours are for small groups like families, couples or individuals. Large Group Tours are for groups of at least 15 people. All of our tours are free, but reservations are required. Minimum age for either tour is five years. Normally General Public Tours are offered twice a month; usually on Fridays. They begin at 9 a.m. and end around 1:30 p.m. Large Group Tours are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and on non-General Public Tour Fridays (see schedule below). The start and end times are flexible. The tour includes visiting the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum as well as a windshield tour of the main base to include seeing our flightline. Most tours include a stop for lunch in the NASA Food Court We close the roster for each tour two weeks prior to the tour in order to properly process each roster with Security Forces and with the folks who make the name tags. Citizens from countries other than USA (visiting with a passport on a visa) are welcome, but reservations must be made at least 30-calendar days in advance. For information regarding group or public tours, please contact the public affairs office at 661-277-3517 or 661-277-4803.
