In 1960, Chubby Checker appeared on American Bandstand, performing a song that would set in motion one of the greatest dance sensations in Rock and Roll history, “The Twist”. The phenomenon of the Twist became the first world-wide dance craze, with its popularity spanning the globe. Not only did “The Twist” hit number one on the charts (and again in 1962 – the only song ever to do so), but the song spawned such hits as “The Peppermint Twist”, “Twist and Shout”, “Dear Lady Twist” and “Twistin’ the Night Away”. In addition, each new song brought a new dance involving “dancing apart to the beat” such as the Jerk, Hully Gully, Boogaloo and Shake. Chubby’s many hits include timeless classics “Twist Again”, “Limbo Rock”, “Slow Twisting”, “The Fly” and “Let’s Twist Again”. Join us for a night of “dance craze” music with the legendary Chubby Checker.
