Transportation

The City is just an hour north of Los Angeles, whether you arrived by plane at LAX or Burbank, caught a train into Union Station, or are driving from the LA Basin. Centrally located in Southern California, Lancaster is easily accessed by Interstate 5 & 15, making access simple and not congested for even cross-country travelers.

Directions

The Antelope Valley Freeway (State Route 14) provides a convenient route south to Greater Los Angeles or north to high Sierra vacation lands. Adventurous motorists find the Angeles Forest and Angeles Crest Highways a scenic route to the Pasadena area. Highways 138 and 58 run east and west through the Antelope Valley accessing the Inland Empire and Tehachapi/Central Valley respectively. Hwy 138 also connects the Antelope Valley with Interstate Freeways 5 (to Los Angeles and Sacramento) and 15 (to San Diego and Las Vegas). Airports

Lancaster's options when it comes to larger airports are Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Bob Hope Airport (also known as Burbank Airport). LAX is about 70 mile from Lancaster which equates to about an hour and a half drive. Bob Hope Airport is located in Burbank, about 60 miles from Lancaster amounting to an hour drive. Lancaster also neighbors two smaller private airports: General William J Fox Airfield and Palmdale Regional Airport.

The main bus transportation agency that operates in Lancaster is the Antelope Valley Transit Authority. From local services to long commutes, the AVTA is the go to bus service. A taxi service is available by phone for you to reach Lancaster, CA at any time of the day.

Metro/Commuter Rail

Rail service is available from Lancaster to Palmdale, Acton, Santa Clarita, the San Fernando Valley and LA Basin cities from Monday through Saturday by Metrolink. Parking

Lancaster provides Park and Ride facilities at a central location, Lancaster City Park. This is also a transfer station for the public bus transportation system. Ample free parking is also available at the Lancaster Metrolink Rail Station at Sierra Hwy and Lancaster Blvd. Parking in downtown Lancaster is also free and Blvd parking includes ramblas parking as well as numerous public parking lots indicated by signage throughout the downtown area.
